Reliance Controls Outdoor Transfer Switches

Pro/Tran^®RainTite OUTDOOR SURFACE MOUNT MANUAL TRANSFER SWITCHES

The Pro/Tran Series is available in two configurations Indoor and Outdoor. Basic models can be field-modified to create dozens of combinations. Indoor and outdoor, surface and flush mount. This page displays RainTite Outdoor Surface Mount.

These transfer switches are designed for fast installation in residential and commercial applications. The 18-inch flexible conduit whip attaches easily to the load center and all wires are clearly marked. Simply select the circuits needed in an emergency and connect them to the Pro/Tran wire leads.

The Pro/Tran Series offers circuit breaker combinations of 20 Amp to 60 Amp utility and 60 Amp to 80 Amp generator. This Series is available in outdoor only and has a provision for 4 to 10 circuit breakers in a fixed arrangement. Models are available with and without power inlets or wattmeters. Interlinked circuit breakers keep the generator isolated from the utility at all time, even with the cover or dead-front removed.

The Reliance Pro/Tran^® R Series (NEMA 3R) transfer switches are ideal for outdoor installation in residential and commercial applications. The gasketed steel cabinet is power-coated, with pad-lockable cover and will accommodate the generator cord with the cover closed. Included is a 16" length of flexible non-metallic, liquid-tight conduit with fittings. Simply mount the cabinet, attach the conduit and feed the clearly-marked wires from the transfer switch into the load center. Then select the load center circuits needed in an emergency and connect them to the wire leads from the transfer switch. Each cabinet includes six combination 1/2-inch and 3/4-inch knockouts, one on each side, two on the bottom an two on the back. See Knockout Patterns and Buss Details for additional information.

All RainTite Pro/Tran transfer switches feature branch-circuit rated breakers, heavy-duty power inlet and non-defeatable (break-before-make) double-throw switches. All 125/250V models feature exclusive Reliance wattmeters with accuracy of ±3% throughout the entire range of the switch.

The power inlet box may be installed indoors or outdoors, in the area where the generator is being used. Using one of the four combination 1/2 inch and 3/4 inch knockouts (one on each side, bottom and back), the power inlet box can be wired directly to the transfer switch or panel. The exclusive patented design provides generous wiring space and facilitates rough-in. If you require a circuit breaker at the inlet box, use the PR Series inlet box that includes a circuit breaker. Select a box that matches the maximum amperage of the transfer switch.

Power Cords: Power Cords are all rubber. This item is a vital connecting link between the generator and the transfer switch and/or the power inlet box. The 4-wire locking plug and connector match up with the power inlet on each transfer switch and power inlet box. Most portable generators are supplied with either a 20 Amp or 30 Amp 4-wire locking receptacle that accepts the locking plug on one end of the power cord. Power cords marked "USA" are not UL listed cords but are assembled with UL listed components. UL listed cords have molded in ends and do not have USA in the number.

12 gauge cords are rated at 20 Amps for all 30 Amp inlet boxes and 30 transfer panels.

10 gauge cords are rated at 30 Amps for all 30 Amp inlet boxes and 30 transfer panels.

6 gauge cords are rated at 50 Amps for all 50 Amp inlet boxes and 50 transfer panels.

The Cost: At first glace these cords look expensive, but if you go out and buy the plugs, wire and tools to make cable as professionally as these are done you will find that you spend at least the same amount of money and a lot of time. How do we know? We went out and did just that! Ours did not come out as nice and it took a lot of time and aggravation to make them. So just buy these Reliance Controls cords.
